On Tuesday afternoon, President Donald Trump said that his administration is taking a closer look at at tax cuts – including a payroll tax cut.
His statement arrives after a report was published by the Washington Post Monday evening, which revealed that the administration was considering a temporary payroll cut.
In response, the White House said that cutting payroll taxes wasn’t part of their plans, while Trump refused to provide a timetable for any proposed future cuts.
However, he did leave the door open this afternoon, saying that, “payroll taxes is something I have been thinking about. Many people would like to see that.”
Trump continued, taking a jab at the Federal Reserve:
“If the Fed would do its job, we’d have a tremendous spurt of growth.”
Whether or not this means a payroll tax cut is in the works has yet to be seen.
But at the very least, it’s on the President’s mind.
